Successful application of new technology for pipeline leak detection in Shengli Oilfield

Recently, Shengli Oilfield used the infrasonic natural gas pipeline leak detection technology to find two punching and stealing behaviors on the gas pipeline from Dangdao to Gudao D273, marking the success of this technology field test. This is the first time in the domestic natural gas pipeline inspection.

The total length of the natural gas pipeline from Shengdao to Gudao in Shengli Oilfield is 37.8 kilometers, and the daily gas transmission capacity is 200,000 cubic meters. In March of this year, after installing the infrasonic pipeline leak detection system on the pipeline, on May 20th and June 8th, two holes were found and the system was able to capture signals and make an alarm. The timely discovery of stolen air holes not only reduces the loss of natural gas, but more importantly eliminates major safety hazards.

Real-time online detection of natural gas pipelines has always been the focus of domestic and international technical research. Infrasound wave technology is a new technology introduced in the field of pipeline leakage detection in China. Its working principle is to determine the pipeline leakage point by detecting the infrasound generated when the fluid in the tube breaks through the wall of the tube. Since the infrasonic characteristics are minimally affected by the clutter in the tube, the propagation speed is constant, and the signal can be transmitted to the remote receiving unit very clearly. Therefore, the detection system combined with this technology can accurately locate the leak position.
